Finally, this deliverable describes particular usage scenarios of the project’s system, which concern different occasions and cases of necessity, and on the other hand the potentiality of the system exploitation by people with different levels of ID severity.
D1.2: Project website
The deliverable D1.2 concerns the development of the present website for the publication of the project information, which is publically accessible.
D1.3: Description of platform architecture and support for interconnection and wireless communication between the functional system modules
The deliverable D1.3 deals with an initial approach and description of the architecture of the under development integrated “modular” platform, that will be implemented in the framework of the QuaLiSID project.
This platform covers the integration of multiple technologies into a single and “smart” system in the form of a flexible, adaptive, extensible and web-accessible structure that communicates and receives input signals from wearable sensors, such as smart watches, smart mobile devices and computers. The design of the integrated system’ s architecture includes the ability to adapt the functionality according to the user’s profile, but future expansion possibilities have been foreseen for specific purposes related to the further assistance of people with intellectual disability.
The approach and description of the architecture will concern the high level structures of the system, exclusively focusing on important architectural elements, avoiding the reference and analysis of low level structures (code level).
WP2: SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ON THE SERVER-SIDE OF THE SYSTEM
D2.1: Development of the functional and friendly user-interface for e-access to specialized services
The deliverable D2.1 concerns the development of the fully functional and friendly user-interface for the user with Intellectual Disability (ID) for online access to specialized information, entertainment, education and social enhancement services. Through this web-based environment, people with ID will interact with the internet by receiving recommendations on information, entertainment, creative activity, virtual exploration, etc., while they are allowed to search content in the above categories. The material related to each category will be suggested according to the preferences, interests, habits but also the current mood and skills of the users, which will be stored in their profiles and updated based on their online activity.
Additionally, the user environment also includes the caregiver interface, through which the system will allow the caregiver (therapists, medical doctors, nurses, etc.) to schedule the time intervals for sending notifications/reminders to the mobile phones of the people with ID and their relatives regarding their medication. Also, the caregiver will be able to monitor the values of certain biomedical parameters measured by the wearable sensors, define the areas of usual activity of their supervised people with ID, as well as monitor their outdoor movements.
Finally, the online environment includes the interface of the system administrator, who is able to perform the necessary modifications to the structure and the data concerning the project system.
D2.2: Development of the user profile and dynamic updating through the Estimation / Prediction Model
The deliverable D2.2 deals with the detailed description of the structure and content of the user profile concerning the person with Intellectual Disability (ID) (online recommendations and options, biomedical measurements, statistics, areas of usual activity and other characteristics), as well as the design and development of the estimation / prediction model. Based on this model, the personalized selection of content is carried out to be recommended to the user based on his profile, and on the other hand, the user profile is updated according to his preferences on the online information entertainment, etc, content.
Additionally, this deliverable describes in detail the structure of the project’s Database, which includes the users of the integrated system and the available online content, which will be accessible by people with ΙD, but also several other data concerning the parameters related to their health and outdoor activity.
D2.3: Development of machine learning algorithms for semantic analysis of multimedia content and classification of user selections
The deliverable D2.3 describes the design that was followed in order to overcome the challenges of multimedia content semantic analysis. The techniques of semantic analysis of multimedia content (image, video and text) are presented, which will be used for metadata extraction, using machine learning algorithms, as well as a summary of the steps of the overall information extraction process aiming to enrich the user profile and produce the individualized recommendations. Finally, it is presented how the semantic analysis methods will be integrated into the QuaLiSID platform, detailing the application programming interfaces, along with usage examples and results concerning the implemented modules.
D2.4: Analysis / Processing of wearable sensor signals for export of aggregate biomedical data and statistics
WP3: HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT OF PORTABLE UNITS ON THE CLIENT-SIDE OF THE SYSTEM
D3.1: Development of application for the detection of emergencies from the signals of the wearable sensors
The deliverable D3.1 concerns the development of software (application) that receives and transmits critical signals (from wearable sensors) related to the person’s health and location / orientation as well as emergency detection. After a review of the relevant literature, the two main parts of the application are described in detail, i.e. the surveillance of emergency health situations and the detection of situations of spatial disorientation and wandering.
In particular, a mobile phone application was developed that is automatically configured depending on whether the user is a person with ID or a caregiver. In the first case, the application periodically records the user’s location, while in the second the caregiver is allowed to choose, from the list of the supported people with ID, a person in order to receive information about his/her current location, as well as several current health parameters. In addition, the caregiver can set / update / delete “safety zones” for each supervised person with ID, which is a simple way to detect any spatial disorientation. Health parameters (heart rate, oxygen saturation) are directly provided periodically to the server and the system database by two supported smartwatch applications. Furthermore, since measuring body temperature from smartwatches is not a straightforward process, a model of Kalman filter was implemented in order to estimate it using heart rate.
D3.2: Development of communication and entertainment applications in smart mobile devices for people with ID
D3.3: Software for receiving, analyzing, processing, sending and representing information from the system modules to the user and vice versa
WP4: PLATFORM INTEGRATION, DEVELOPMENT OF APPLICATION SYSTEM EXTENSIONS
D4.1: Prototype experimental system – Description of technical characteristics and equipment and software configuration
D4.2: Integrated system functionality and reliability test
D4.3: System development / configuration in English language
D4.4: Publication of the individual subsystems of the project
WP5: PILOT SYSTEM APPLICATION TO THE USER INSTITUTION
D5.1: Description of the initial phase of pilot application of system subunits to the user institution
D5.2: Description of the final phase of pilot implementation of the integrated system to the user institution
D5.3: Report of conclusions, statistics and validation of the system functionality
D5.4: Publication of the results in a scientific journal
WP6: COMMERCIAL EXPLOITATION OF THE SYSTEM AND COPYRIGHT REGISTRATION
D6.1.1: 1st Edition of the plan for commercial exploitation, dissemination, publication and copyright of the integrated system
The deliverable Π6.1.1 concerns the description of the actions of publicity and dissemination of the project results that have been carried out during its implementation, as well as the plans for the commercial and/or other exploitation of these results.
At the same time, a first approach is attempted to define the rules for managing the intellectual rights of the project results, the existing technological and economic market state of the art, but also their medium-long-term prospects, with reference to the commonly accepted problems regarding the specific domain and work scope.
D6.1.2: 2nd Edition of the plan for commercial exploitation, dissemination, publication and copyright of the integrated system
D6.2: Publications of the individual units and the integrated system of the project
D6.3: Report on the organization of workshop for the presentation of project results
